Today is the first day of the 2015 Passports with Purpose fundraiser, an annual event organized by travel bloggers to support a worthy cause.
Created in 2008 as a way to give something back to the places we’ve traveled, Passports with Purpose has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for some very worthy charities.
Once again, I’m proud to be involved as both a blogger and donor.
Each year, Passports with Purpose partners with a different non-profit organization that will benefit from our efforts.
For 2015, we’re raising money to help Worldreader:
“bring digital reading to an additional five libraries in western Kenya. Each library will receive 50 Kindle e-readers, comprising of English and Swahili fiction and non-fiction for all ages, as well as Kenyan textbooks – providing an estimated 6,250 children, teachers and parents with access to more than 50,000 books.”
By coming together over the next 10 days, the travel blogging community hopes to raise a significant amount of money to help make a difference in Kenya.
How to Donate
One of the reasons I love participating in Passports with Purpose is they make it fun to give.
Travel bloggers have been busy rounding up amazing travel-related prizes, which as of today (November 9), you can bid on for as little as $10.
Each $10 bid improves your odds of winning that prize. So if you want to donate $50 and have your heart set on a particular prize, then you can choose to bid five times for that prize.
Every dollar counts!
This year I’m donating a free lifetime membership to Travel Blog Success, an online course and community to help travelers learn how to build, promote, and make money from their blog.
Membership is worth $397, but can be won through Passports with Purpose for as little as a $10 donation.

Donations are being accepted through 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time), November 18, 2015.
Prize winners will be notified soon after.
Terms and Conditions for the Travel Blog Success Prize
None! Once the fundraiser is over, we’ll notify the winner within a few days by email, and get the necessary information required to create the free membership.
While vying for prizes is fun, the real value in participating in Passports with Purpose is the chance to make a difference in the lives of children in Kenya by offering them increased access to e-readers and textbooks.
One last thing. As a donor, I’ve won a big-ticket item twice before. If you’re wondering how I could afford a penthouse in Cartagena for my birthday, I have a prize sponsor from Passports with Purpose to thank.
Donate today and maybe you’ll win big too!
