W. Eugene Smith said, “The world just does not fit conveniently into the format of a 35mm camera.”
As travelers, backpackers, and globetrotters, we know it to be true. A simple photograph could not even begin to capture the multitude of opportunities to see, do, and experience around the world… and yet, most of us are photographers. There is something special about a moment that is captured abroad. It has the power to tell a story, evoke the memory, and allows us to take some part of that special place, person, or thing with us no matter where we go. Now, it can also be printed in the pages of National Geographic magazine and take you on the trip of a lifetime.
How? The Third Annual Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest.
Until June 30th, you can submit your best photos””in categories like Animals/Wildlife, Travel, and Weather””for a chance to win a National Geographic Expeditions trip for two to Greece. The winning photograph will also be featured in an Energizer® Ultimate Lithium battery ad in the December issue of National Geographic magazine.
Don't be shy either. As their press release explains: ” You don't have to be an expert or have professional equipment to capture a magnificent shot,” said 20-year National Geographic photographer and contest judge Jim Richardson. ” One of last year's Category Winning photos was shot by a zoo employee on a regular point-and-shoot camera. Great photography is often about being in the right place at the right time and making sure you're prepared to capture the moment when it happens.”
But that's not all, this year you can also take an active role in the contest. Once the category finalists are chosen in August, Americans everywhere will be able to check out the other entries, rate them, and even ask Jim Richard your most pressing photography questions.
Take your “shot” at greatness with the Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest, there's no reason not to.
