Editor's Note: Troy and I always intended to open up his Faces series on Go Backpacking to contributors. With my recent trip to Rwanda, I was able to capture quite a few portraits, though it slipped my mind to try and do the interviews (through an interpreter) which would better tie them to the series.
Photographer's Notes: After an unsuccessful morning tracking chimpanzees in the Nyungwe Forest in southwestern Rwanda, we drove to a pygmy village with homes made of mud. The cracked walls' naturally rough texture acted as the perfect backdrop for portraits of the kids. Some children were shy, while others enjoyed the attention and were happy to follow direction, standing exactly where you wanted them.
