The following is a sponsored post.
I am what some may call a Facebook purist. I joined when the membership was still limited to college and high school students. I joined at a time when poking someone was the most thrill you could get out of an otherwise public form of communication. And since then my profile has pretty much stayed the same, give or take a few photo albums of more recent travels.
Since then, of course, Facebook has expanded, with bumper stickers, general admission, Facebook chat, and of course, applications. Let's pretend the format doesn't also change every two weeks. The most popular applications are run by third-parties to provide the millions of Facebook users with more worthwhile ways to use their time on the site in categories like sports, games, family, education, and my new favorite, travel.
Yes, travel. I've recently discovered an application that I don't just like, I love; an application that examines your profile to figure out your ideal holiday destination–the Holiday Matchmaker.
Sound eery? I promise it's not… quite the contrary actually. It is both fun and incredibly clever.
As Halifax, the genius behind the Facebook application, explains, “By analysing the content of your profile, it will calculate what your ideal holiday destination is, where you should stay, what you should do, what the weather is like at the moment and how many plastic Eiffel Towers you can buy for a fiver [pretty important, if it's your first time there ;)]. Now it doesn't get much more useful than that. Oh, and it will also point you in the direction of Halifax Travel Money, something you might find handy when going on holiday.”
Halifax Travel Money is a service that provides you with a simpler way to exchange your Benjamins into foreign currency. Furthermore, there are added benefits including:
- Free home delivery if you order through our NEW online service or over the phone using your debit or credit card
- 0% commission on foreign currency and foreign currency travellers cheques
- Great exchange rates
- Next day delivery service to your home or local branch
- 0% commission on buybacks
Did I not yet mention that there is also a user-friendly currency converter? Oh, okay, there's that too.
I was appropriately matched with Paris, a city that may very well end up being my next international destination if not for my, “love of art and fine dining,” as the Holiday Matchmaker described, then to visit my best friend there and possibly attend her law school graduation. I should probably take them up on their other suggestions too, they're all pretty darn amazing.
Of all the applications I've refused to try, this is the first to have won me over. So don't be surprised if the next annoying friend to invite you to try a new one is, well, me ;).
