Travel is all about pushing boundaries and affording yourself new opportunities, so when I had the chance to fly up/down Franz Joseph Glacier in a helicopter, I took it. If you've never been in a helicopter, it's a completely different sensation than flying in a plane.  It feels as if you're magically levitating up and down (similar to the feeling of weightlessness when SCUBA diving).

In the photo below, the helicopter is landing to shuttle us back down the glacier after an hour of gingerly walking around  the ice with our crampons.

Great photo, I like the helicopter colours against the green of the mountains. Franz Joseph Glacier is a cool place (excuse the pun).
