Officially My Longest Trip (Ever!)

Peace from Lakek McKenzie on Fraser Island, Australia

Alert the presses – it's official!  I've now been traveling continuously for more than 7 weeks, thereby surpassing my previous record set 10 years ago in Europe (during my first backpacking trip).  It feels right to be traveling on an even bigger adventure a nice round decade after I first discovered my desire for independent travel.  I didn't get homesick then, and I'm not even close to feeling it now!

Planning a trip? Go Backpacking uses and recommends:

  • G Adventures for small group tours
  • Skyscanner for researching flights
  • Hostelworld for booking hostels
  • Airbnb for renting rooms and homes
  • Rail Europe for train passes
  • World Nomads for travel insurance

Grats! Yea, I know when I was in Germany for 3 weeks I didn’t get homesick. In fact it was painful to get on the plain back to America.

I’m still trying to figure out where to go. Back to Europe (and see more than just Germany) or somewhere in Asia.

Congradulations, almost two months! Go Dave Go!

Phillip, once you’ve decided, you need to start a blog as well!

Dave, have I told you recently you’re my hero? I’m totally jealous of you. Ah well…. Here’s hoping I can figure out the $$ to make some sort of trip happen this year or else I’ll go stir crazy!
