Help me decide how long to spend in Bali, Indonesia! I have to decide soon so I can book my onward travel. Factors to consider include the fact that I will have been on the road for 2 months, not having spent more than 5 nights in any one place. The first 3 countries I visited could turn out to be the most expensive of my trip.

3 weeks should be enough if you are only planning for Bali & Lombok. Definately you gotta visit the 3 Gilis too. Basic accomodation around Poppies start from about USD 5! I wont blame you if you change your mind n decide to stay there FOREVER!

Get there and then decide, Dave. Its an awesome place (Indo as a whole) and u may want to do it more justice by staying longer. In my opinion it beats the 'usual backpacker haunts' further up in SE Asia hands down.

Dave,I would consider heading further east in Indo. Chill out on Gili Air, which is close to Lombok for a week, do some snorkling, maybe some diving, you could climb Gunung Rinjani, then a boat trip from Lombok to Flores with a stop at Komodo and Rinca. From there you could head to Bajawa and Kelimutu and then fly back to Bali from Labuanbajo on Flores. If you have any questions about that part of Indo, then let me know! It's an amazing place...

Thanks Boris - I know you've traveled quite a bit around that area. I've heard a bit about Lombok - which I know is another island nearby. Despite my readers tendency to want me to stay for only 10 days, I was considering 3 weeks! :)
